Are you licensed investigators?

Yes, Rod Moratti holds a private investigators license #21-082495 under the Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority.  This is important because the license system regulates who can operate in the industry and ensures that we are trustworthy and upstanding citizens.

Rod is also a member and past committee member of the NZIPI (New Zealand Institute of Professional Investigators Inc).

How much will it cost and how do I pay?

Depending on the type of task, we operate on an hourly rate or come to a set fee arrangement.

A standard trace to locate someone in New Zealand is NZ$575 including applicable taxes and fees, and I report within 24 hours.

Surveillance can sometimes be undertaken by a solo agent but usually requires two vehicles in secure radio contact so we can swap around and maintain covert surveillance.

The cost for standard 2-agent surveillance is NZ$120 per agent hour plus mileage, any expenses and GST.

We normally require two agents in secure radio contact so we can swap around and maintain covert surveillance.

If it is a single agent this will be $180 per hour plus mileage, any expenses and GST.

The expenses depend on the task and may include, flights, accommodation, rental cars, parking, meals or more usually, a coffee or meal if the person we are following enters a café or restaurant and we need to blend in to maintain visual connection.

For surveillance jobs you need to allow us additional travel time each way to and from the job.

We can provide a quote on application once we have discussed and assessed your requirements.

Payment is easiest by Internet banking, if you need the payment to be discreet at your end you are best to withdraw the cash and pay it into our account using the invoice number as reference. You can also make payment via PayPal.

Investigation and interview work is charged at NZ$180 per hour plus expenses and GST.

Every task is different so it is not possible to list all costs and fees here. Simply contact us and begin the process. We will be up front with you and on many occasions it will be possible to set fees. You will only have to deal with one contact person and your information is held with utmost confidentiality.

Can you access phone records or texts?

No we can’t. The telcos will not make that information available and the Privacy Act prevents us from accessing text or phone record information. However we are experienced at obtaining information in other ways so feel free to contact us and Rod will assess your case and advise the best action to take.

Can you access criminal records?

I can obtain a person’s criminal and traffic conviction history usually within 3 days. The fee is NZ$350+GST and must be accompanied with authorisation and valid identification (a copy of the subject’s passport or NZ drivers license and include the signature page) from the person concerned and include their full name and date of birth. In New Zealand it is illegal for me to obtain someone’s criminal history without their authorisation.

Where in New Zealand do you operate?

We operate in every part of New Zealand including (but not restricted to) Kaitaia, Bay of Islands, Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Rotorua, Taupo, Gisborne, Palmerston North, Wellington, Blenheim, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown, Invercargill and West Coast. We also work in all Pacific Islands including Fiji, Samoa, Rarotonga and many others.

Our head office is in Auckland and we have satellite offices in the Bay Of Plenty (Tauranga/Mt Maunganui) and Wellington.

Can you undertake work in Australia or the Pacific Islands?

Absolutely. For any Australian trace work I have abilities and contacts across Australia and can find anyone for NZ$1450 including taxes.

Is everything confidential?

Absolutely, we guarantee discretion and confidentiality. Your details are held securely and will never be shared. We have been licensed since 1989 and have an unblemished record of caring for our clients and deserving their trust.

Can a Private Investigator locate anyone?

Given an unlimited budget we can pretty much locate anyone on the planet. We do regularly locate individuals in other countries for clients and because of our vast experience in the business we are able to locate virtually anyone within New Zealand. We use sound investigative skills along with local knowledge of people and places, contacts and ingenuity.

Can I call you for some free advice?

Of course- we are here to help and with our experience in dealing with such matters we can very often make things clear for you from the start. We are only an email or phone call away and we will understand your concerns. Remember, you will only have to deal with one point of contact and your information is guaranteed confidential.

How can I become a PI?

We receive many requests from individuals wishing to become a Private Investigator. Unfortunately positions are rare. If you are extremely lucky you may be able to align yourself with a currently licensed agency and work from the ground up. There are currently no positions available at Moratti & Associates.

How do you follow people?

Surveillance can be carried out without detection because we are highly experienced. We conduct operations ranging from the surveillance of spouses to an international multi-agent task over extended periods; no job is too large or too small. Because we are experienced, we will not be spotted and the evidence you require is obtained promptly and professionally.

Often vehicular surveillance is carried out utilising two cars and the agents are in contact via radio, often changing positions behind the target vehicle to avoid detection and ensure a successful operation. On foot or in public places like the street, bars, cafes and restaurants we blend in easily and can often be alongside the target listening to conversations or observing activity whilst remaining completely unnoticed.
